Dear Business Owners, Community and Friends,

Saint Raphael’s Church needs the help of the community-at-large. 117 years of Vermont weather has put it in desperate need of a new roof. This beautiful historic structure which holds a prominent place in the history of this community, is one we all appreciate. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.

We all have many family and friends, of diverse heritages and faiths, throughout our history who are and have been members of Saint Raphael’s congregation. We have shared in personal achievements, their joys at weddings and their sorrows at funerals, burials and masses.

Its congregation have also been actively involved in and hosted many events in their Parish Rec Hall and in other locations in the community-at-large which we have enjoyed and benefited from. Some of those include the: Poultney 200th Birthday Celebration; Spotlight on Business; Red Cross Blood Draws; concerts by U.S. military bands; Christmas events including the Tree of Giving, Memory Lights on the Town Office lawn, Christmas Concert by the Poultney-Granville Town Band, and New Year’s Eve dinners and dance celebrations.

How can we all help?

1) MARK THE DATE: The congregation is having a fund-raiser BASKET RAFFLE on Sunday, December 8th. It opens at 11:00 a.m. in its Rec Hall. DONATE a basket or two to be raffled off at the event. Nancy Roberts and Judy Stiles are the contact persons for your questions about what, how, when and where to donate a basket. (See the attached letter from Nancy and Judy for more information.)

2) MARK THE DATE and time of Sunday, December 8th at 11:00 a.m. on your calendar and plan to go support this event. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

3) Give a tax-deductible gift by mailing a check, made payable to Saint Raphael’s Church, and mail it to 21 East Main Street, Poultney, VT 05764. Designate your gift for its Roof Restoration Fund.
