PACC OPENS NOMINATIONS FOR “POULTNEY’S SWEETHEART”
This time of year can be a little draining: cold weather, cloudy days, snow and ice. There are things to do inside, but sooner or later things get monotonous, and you start getting into the dreaded cabin fever season. That’s the time to think ahead.
Believe it or not, it’s only a few weeks until Valentine’s Day! So think about your sweetheart, and how you’ll make the day special. Think about who you’d like to see honored on Valentine’s Day this year. The Poultney Chamber of Commerce wants to know who your sweetheart is, because for the first time this year they’re naming one individual as “Poultney’s Sweetheart”.
It’s all part of a move to make Valentine’s Day even more of a special day for a lucky Poultney resident. The winning sweetheart will be drawn from all entries, and every resident of Poultney is eligible, female or male (that’s male or female), from 2 days old to 112, whether you’ve lived in Poultney for 10 generations, or just a day or two.
Poultney’s Sweetheart will be honored by a procession down Main Street, a lovely bouquet of flowers from Everyday Flowers, and a basket of prizes donated by local businesses, organizations, and artists. He or she will receive a special Sweetheart Keepsake Plaque from Milowen Designs. The Chamber will provide a special photo to remember this special day.
So who will be Poultney’s Sweetheart for 2022? Who are you going to nominate? (Of course, most people will be thrilled that someone nominated them for the role, so even if your nominee doesn’t win, knowing that you think they should be Poultney’s Sweetheart is a gift in itself.)
You can enter your nomination by dropping it off at participating local businesses. While you’re there, take a look at what they have to offer for Valentine’s Day, and remember that shopping small, and buying local keeps our community alive. If you absolutely can’t get there to drop off your nomination, you can also email the Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce at email@example.com.
Anyone can make a nomination, as long as it’s for a current Poultney resident. Tell us the nominee’s name, and how to reach you and the nominee if your nomination wins. Nominations are due by Saturday, February 12th, at noon, and the PACC will contact the winner on Sunday, February 13th.
Here’s your opportunity to chase away the mid-winter blues, and bring a big smile to someone’s life on Valentine’s Day. Nominate someone for Poultney’s Sweetheart!
