2018 Maplefest Celebration
Join us as our annual Maplefest Celebration takes over the town with fun activities for the whole family!
Start your day at the Stonebridge Visitors Center, home of the Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce, at 8am with maps to our sugarhouses and event schedules. You can also download a map here!
Breakfast with the Easter Bunny 9:00am-11:00am at the Methodist Church on Main Street (sponsored by the Poultney Women’s Club).
MapleFest 5k Run – Registration begins at 9:00am behind the Poultney High School on Furnace Street. Race starts at 10:00am, T-shirts for the first 48 runners.
MapleFest Craft Fair from 10:00am to 4:00pm at the Poultney High School.
Horse Drawn Wagon Rides starting at 10:00am in front of the former Citizen’s Bank on Main Street (sponsored by the Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce and Poultney Downtown Revitalization Committee)
Official Tree Tapping starts at 10:00am on the front lawn of Green Mountain College. Come see which contestant wins in the race to tap a tree. Provost Tom Mauhs-Pugh against a mystery opponent.
Maple Prince and Princess – the winners will be crowned at the Official Tree Tapping on the front lawn of Green Mountain College. Poultney’s own Maple Sugar Bear will officiate and the winners will be given their own miniature Sugar Bears and maple prizes from Green’s Sugarhouse.
Maple Story Time starts at 11:00am at the Poultney Public Library and includes songs, crafts, and a special Maple snack, all courtesy of Librarian Rebecca Cook and staff. Come check out the new expanded facility.
Poultney Historical Society, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, will be having an open house and maple treats at the East Poultney School House with posters and artifacts displayed and a maple video playing on TV in the meeting room. Trustees will be available to chat about our model train project.
Sap Bucket Challenge and MapleFest Silent Auction held at the Poultney American Legion from 11:00am to 3:00pm (sponsored by the Poltney Rotary Club and Stone Valley Arts at Fox Hill).
MapleFest Dinner from 4:40pm to 7:00pm at the Young at Hearts Senior Center. They’ll be serving maple glazed ham, maple sweet potato mash, vegetable, beverage, and choice of desserts including maple bread pudding. Take out is available.
The Champlain Philharmonic Orchestra will play in Ackley Hall at Green Mountain College. Doors open at 7:00pm and the concert starts at 7:30pm. The concert, “Lion & Lamb”, features 19th century work filled with drama, passion, delicate gestures, and familiar melodies.
